The first one froze nupple cracked stock in 2 places so I bought a 2nd one this one is a shooter. Managed groups under 2 inches at 50 yards using a .58 maxi from track of the wolf 100 grains Goex 2F felted over powder.For just the lock, I haven't found detailed instructions anywhere. Most of it seems pretty straightforward, except for the serpentine. In my opinion, for a Production gun, the Pedersoli Rocky Mountain Hawken is the "best" one out there, and perhaps the only true production replica out there. I pulled the nipple and clean out screw and pushed the ball closer to the breech. There was no powder under it so I dribbled in about 20 grains of 3f and replaced the screw and nipple. It tends to shatter like glass. While flint, agate, etc are 7 on Moh's hardness scale, obsidian is only 5. BTW stainless steel is also around 5 on the same scale. A good frizzen may actually be harder than obsidian. Anther fella on a different board described a minor modification to the loading lever latch that solved the problem.
